WindSync is a collective of five outstanding North American wind musicians who come together as performers, educators, and community-builders. Join them in an intimate and joyful concert program featuring out-of-this-world music inspired by space travel, performed all memory. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with a new work composed for WindSync by American Marc Mellits, paired with the forward looking Suite from “A Trip to the Moon” from 1875 by Jacques Offenbach. Rounding out the program is David Maslanka’s lovely, lyrical, and playful Quintet for Winds No. 3, which pays tribute to the chorales of JS Bach, using “Ihr Gestim ihr hohlen Lufte” (“Your stars, your cavernous sky”) as inspiration for the first movement.. Recent winners of the Concert Artists Guild and Fischoff competitions, WindSync approaches their mixed repertory of wind quintets and arrangements with the highest level of artistic dedication.
